Speaking of Lois Van Ewijk
1941-2005

I didn't know Lois for that many years -- nine, ten, maybe. But it was enough to form a very special friendship. She made me feel welcome -- that is a special gift! She, Rudy and their beloved friend Kathleen came to the Cape, and Lois fell right into our favorite places as though she had always been there.

Before we went to Italy, Lois took classes in Italian -- to smooth our way! And that she did! Between her Italian language skills and her charms, we had the most memorable adventures and experiences. How many people get a tour of a regional police facility? Lois, with her soft voice, and warm smile, got us welcomed.

Perhaps Lois' greatest gift to all of us was that of friendship and acceptance. She was and is loved -- probably more than she ever knew. She will be missed, she will be thought of, and her place in our hearts is assured. I wish her peace.
