About Lois,

Others have spoken or written eloquently about her charm, her delightful, quirky sense of humor, and her ability to make everyone her friend. So I would like to emphasize now another aspect of her personality: her remarkable record of taking care of people - which of course I have experienced first hand. There were her mother's sisters, Lois and Catherine (for whom she was named), who lived in Sun City, Arizona. After their husbands died, she went faithfully and often to Arizona to help them with both personal support and getting their financial affairs in order. In 1998 her Aunt Lois suffered a stroke and was confined to a wheelchair. Lois again took change, arranging for 24-hour care, straightening out the myriad problems to be dealt with, and visiting often to take both of them on their favorite outings - shopping and the Indian casino. As for me, after my husband died and daughter Joan had moved to the Central Coast, Lois and Rudy became my lifeline to the world, taking me on all the necessary errands since I could no longer drive, and in general being there. Although the loss of their house in the fire was devastating, it was a real break for me that they could move in with me, indeed a godsend both for their company and the support they continued to give me. She was so caring, so generous and giving of herself. For too short a time she made our lives richer, and we can count our blessings for every minute.
